About Me

I have been dedicated to dressage since the early 1980s, building my career as a rider and trainer in the San Diego, California area before relocating to central North Carolina. In 2004, I began importing horses for myself and clients from Germany, later expanding my network to Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, and France. Over the years I have successfully imported more than 30 horses, including the German Riding Pony stallion Lateran. I trained and competed Lateran through Intermediare I before he was sold to a para rider, who went on to represent the USA with him at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Lateran also sired six premium foals from imported mares, four of which were stallion prospects.

I am a USDF Bronze and Silver medalist, as well as a Silver Freestyle medalist. Having trained several horses through Intermediare, I have earned Regional and National Championships on self-trained horses and coached students to regional titles and lifetime rider medals.

In 2016, I embraced the discipline of Working Equitation, earning Bronze and Silver medals on self-trained horses. Between 2017 and 2023, I consistently ranked in the national top ten on four different horses, with scores reaching 80% through Level 5. Highlights include a 3rd place finish in Novice A at the 2017 WE United National Championship, where I was also part of the Gold Medal team, a 5th place finish in Level 4 at the 2019 North American Championship, and the Open Level 5 Championship at the 2021 Region 2 Championships.

I am a USDF L Graduate with Distinction and have judged dressage, eventing dressage, western dressage, and obstacle challenges at local schooling shows since 2007. My judging credentials in Working Equitation began with an “r” designation in 2017, followed by my R card in 2018 and my S designation in 2019. I currently serve as an S Judge and licensed Technical Delegate for USAWE and WECan.

My leadership roles include serving on the WE United Executive Board from 2017–2020 as Region 2 Director, President Elect, President, and Past President. In 2020, I contributed to the merger of WE United and the Confederation for Working Equitation into USAWE, serving on the Merger Board of Directors and the Licensed Officials Committee. Today, I continue to support the sport as a member of the USAWE Dressage Test Committee, helping to rewrite national tests, and as part of the “S Team” consulting with the Licensed Officials, Rules, and Professional Instructors Committees.  I am currently serving on the WECan Licensed Officials Committee and the USAWE Professional Instructors Committee.
